But, if you want to appear slimmer and taller then it may be time to ditch the pleats. The goal is to create a nice straight line from the waist down to your shoes. Anything that breaks the visual line will detract from you looking your best. Cuffs on your pants are nothing but extra fabric that breaks the crisp clean line and ultimately giving you the appearance of being shorter than you are.

Tapered jeans are not just out dated, but hurting your image and style. A tapered leg doesn't allow for your jean to fit over the top of your shoe. Instead you have a gathering of fabric at the top of you foot, creating a sloppy appearance.

If you aren't sure if your jeans are tapered or not, here is an easy test. Take your jeans and lay them on your bed face up. If the bottom is less wide than the knee then indeed they are tapered and new jeans should be on your to do list. When looking for new jeans, you will notice that there are a few different cuts or styles to choose from. Look for straight leg or even boot cut jeans. The goal is to allow the jean to fall over the top of your shoe creating a nice clean line from your waist to your feet. Bunching of fabric will only make you look short and sloppy. Shoes are in my opinion the most important aspect of an outfit. By choosing chunky or bulky shoes, you will only look like a clown. Overly square toes (pilgrim) are also a think of the style past. They were cool a few years ago, but they are now taking a back seat to a sleeker and more stream lined shape and trend. We should also include shoes that are overly worn or scuffed.

The Solution
Take care of your shoes. Once a month take the time to polish your shoes and make sure not to forget about the heal. Spend the money on good quality shoes. If taken care of they will last you for years. Choose shoes that are simple yet stylish. Stay away from overly ornate stitching or overly drastic shapes (square or pointed). Remember, shoes should not draw attention to them selves, but rather tie the package together. Stay away from shoes that are ultra trendy due to the fact that they will be out of style quickly.

Athletic shoes should be worn when exercising. They are not your go to pair of shoes suitable for every activity and occasion.

Brown however is a bit trickier; there are 20 different shades of brown. When trying to pick a belt to match your shoes, wear the shoes into the store. If you try to just wing it from memory, you are bound to be disappointed once you get home.

Your Coffee Maker - How to Clean it Properly

Cleaning a coffee maker isn't a "maybe" task, but rather an absolute must. To get great tasting java, you should clean your machine on a regular basis. Your coffee drinking guests will appreciate this as well. To learn how, keep reading.

Clean It Every Time

While you don't need to clean out the entire machine every time you make a pot of brew, you definitely need to clean out the pot and the filter holder. If you use a reusable metal or mesh filter, it should be thoroughly washed before being used again. Otherwise, leftover residue from staleness will be noticeable in the next brew.

Easy Soap, But Soap

Don't simply rinse your pot out with water. Coffee contains strong oils that can only be washed away with mild soap. Refrain, however, from using too much and make sure you rinse it out thoroughly to avoid a soapy taste on your next pot.

Remember, even if you're dumping out one pot and simply throwing on another, the leftover oils from the previous brew can taint the next and negatively affect the taste. So, wash your pot with gentle soap after every use.

Clean the Machine Every Few Uses

You should give your coffee machine a thorough cleaning at least periodically. Doing so will prevent the build-up of calcification, lime or other mineral deposits and keep the machine running at peak capacity.

Do a basic weekly cleaning by running a pot of water and vinegar or water and lemon juice through the machine once and following it up with a plain pot of pure water.

Then, once every few months or once a year, depending on how hard your water is, get rid of mineral deposits using a coffee machine descaler or decalcification solution.

Replace the Water Filter

If your machine has a built-in water filter, be sure to replace it as needed. A dirty water filter can taint every pot of coffee and deposit dangerous molds or bacteria that have built up inside the filter unit. This caution is no different from the changes you would make on any other water filter - for instance, in your refrigerator.

Replace Your Filter

If you use a reusable metal or mesh filter, consider replacing it about once a year. While metal or screen filters are designed to be washed and reused, fine grounds of residue can get stuck inside. This not only clogs the filter, but can also affect the overall taste of your java.

If the flavor of your drink is important and you don't want it to taste like it was made by a local auto shop, then some level of reasonable and minimal care must be given to your coffee maker.

Keeping a clean machine benefits you two ways - it will last much longer and your coffee will taste great pot after pot. Remember, wash it after every use, use gentle soap, rinse well, decalcify the machine regularly, and replace the water filter and your grounds filter on a systematic basis.

Using a RAFTS (Role, Audience, Format, Topic, and Strong Verb) model is a high yield instructional strategy that content area teachers can use to produce meaningful writing assignments. Since writing assignments provide an opportunity for students to reveal their thinking process, it is essential that teachers provide their students with a context for those writing assignments. A strong context provides a series of guidelines that students can follow, and those same guidelines can be used to construct a rubric which teachers can use to evaluate the writing.

Teachers can easily construct an assignment using the RAFTS components:

• The ROLE which tells the student what point of view to use
• The AUDIENCE which helps the student LIMIT and FOCUS the writing
• The FORMAT which identifies the PRODUCT the student is to produce
• The TOPIC which identifies WHAT the writing is to be about
• The STRONG VERB a verb from Bloom's Taxonomy; identifies the TYPE of PERFOMANCE from the writer With these 4 elements in place, assignment can be stated in a narrative (sentence) form.
